I received two samples from EcoStore to review, and I love these products!
First is the Baby Shampoo. I love the scent of this baby shampoo - I can smell the eucalyptus. It is so clean smelling and doesn't have the aroma of baby powder. It lathers well and rinses easily. The other product is the Baby Body Wash. This pretty much has the same scent and is also very mild and doesn't irritate baby's eyes.

The great thing about these products is they are environmentally friendly and also natural, which is great for your little one. Plant based and no nasty chemicals. I will be ordering from them in the near future. Highly recommend it!

EcoStore carries other eco friendly products for bath and body, cleaning, and even pet care! I read on their site that 26 seconds after contact with most household cleaners, traces of toxic chemicals are present in every organ of the human body!!! WOW! I'm going to have to think about ordering some of their household cleaners, too. That is just terrible, and most of us never think about it when we reach for the all purpose cleaner that we use on our countertops and our children eat off of them afterwards. Not good!

Aunt Jemima Frozen Pancake review!

I recently received a coupon for a free Breakfast item from Aunt Jemima. We love getting frozen pancakes for a quick and tasty breakfast. Some really great recipes were shared with me by Aunt Jemima, and I want to share with you my favorite idea! They are called "Nutty Homestyle Hotcakes" and you just take heated Aunt Jemima frozen pancakes and spread peanut butter on one and honey on the other. Slice bananas and put on top of one, then make a sandwich. YUMMMMY!

This was so simply and so nice to eat while packing my daughter's lunch. She asked if she could have a pancake sandwich in her lunchbox that day. I said "SURE! I made her a peanut butter and jelly Pancake Sandwich. She loved it!

If you haven't tried frozen pancakes, I really do suggest it. It is such a time-saver! And honestly, sometimes they are better than the ones I cook. :-)

Recently, I was on the hunt for a lunchbox that was waste-free, easy to pack and keep clean, and that was easy enough for my 5 year old daughter to open on her own. I came across Thermapod while searching, and was thrilled to receive one to review!

The idea of Thermapod came from a mom frustrated with packing lunches. It is convenient, reduces waste, saves time and money, and very cool looking, too. You can order them directly from their website for $24.95, and they come in a variety of colors. We got the blue one, which immediately got decorated with my daughter's name using paint pens.

I love the "hidden" compartment which holds a fork, spoon, knife, and even chopsticks! My daughter thought that was "way cool". Thermapod is made of durable plastic that is BPA free and dishwasher, freezer, and microwave safe. It is very lightweight, weighing about a pound. There are two compartments --- a larger one perfect for sandwiches and a smaller one for holding snacks or a drink. It doesn't seem as roomy as some other systems we use, but there is plenty of space to pack lunch for my 5 year old.

I received a nice sampling of Brothers All Natural Fruit Crisps for review, and wow! are they good! I had been wanting to try these because I've seen them on sale on Amazon.com sometimes and thought, "What a great lunchbox snack!" They surely are and I will be purchasing them in the future. I haven't been able to find them locally, but there are always good prices on Amazon, so check there if you can't find them in your grocery store.

I received one pack of all varieties, and my favorite was Peach with Strawberry Banana a close second. There are seven varieties: Fuji Apple, Asian Pear, Strawberry Banana, Pineapple, Strawberry, Banana, and Peach.

Snack Overload! Review and Giveaway from Pirate Brands

Last week I came home to the following goodies from Pirate Brands:

A suitcase box with their Potato Flyers in all flavors: The Original, Sea Salt & Vinegar, Homestyle Barbeque and Sour Cream and Onion. These were very tasty. Crunchy, not greasy, and great flavors! My daughter's favorite was The Original and my favorite was the Barbeque.

We also got a treasure chest with Pirate's Booty to try! We love the Aged White Cheddar! These are so light and crispy. Think popcorn and the other orange corn snack that leaves a residue, and you've got it! Except these won't leave your fingers orange after you eat them!

Gatti Town Birthday Parties

My daughter's birthday was earlier this month, and after looking around to see what our options were for a party, we decided on Gatti Town. We had been to other's parties there and it seemed like such a stress-free party for the parents, so I was all about it. The cost is not too bad when you compare it with other party places (fun jumps, the cheese guy, skating rinks, etc.). And everything was included but the cake! For $200, you can have 12 guests w/a parent eat buffet, get a party hostess to entertain (ours did face painting and balloon animals) and assist, $10 for each child to play games in the midway, and an hour in the party room.

The kids had so much fun, I didn't have to do much to prepare for the party, and I would definitely recommend it!

School Uniforms really are easy!

So, this year is the first year our school system has went to a uniform policy. Some were happy, other weren't, but I think it is working out well. I love going to the school and seeing all these neatly dressed kids looking so cute. Our primary school's dress code is a little more relaxed for the little ones, like, they can wear jeans and denim dresses. Anyway, back earlier this summer, a local store had a uniform shopping event and I went to pick up a few outfits. They carry the French Toast brand, which I had heard of through searching for options online.

After a few weeks now of wearing those shirts, dresses, skirts, I have to say I am very pleased with this brand. They have washed and worn so well. Not a lot of shrinkage (I hang everything to dry) and they don't wrinkle a lot either. We really love the polo dresses and the girl's polos with flower buttons. The prices are fabulous and it makes choosing an outfit so easy in the morning!

Fox's Pizza is AWESOME!

If you are lucky enough to live near a Fox's Pizza Den, then you know what I'm talking about! We go there once a week. If you've never had a wedgie (sandwich, that is) then you just gotta! I love their Steak and Cheese wedgie. My daughter gets a Bambino pizza (kids size pizza, also plenty for us moms, too). The prices are fantastic and the pizza isn't greasy. Their Big Daddy pizzas (24 pieces) are great for parties and football games. We got these for my daughter's preschool party and the kids just loved it. They have coupons on their website, and some locations offer online ordering. Check it out!

Borden Cheese and a great recipe!

I've grown up drinking Borden milk and eating Borden cheese, and I used to buy their awesome onion dip until I haven't been able to find it. So, when my mom and I found this recipe, Borden cheese delivered exactly what we needed in their Sensational Flavors Hickory Smoked Swiss. So good! You have to try this recipe:

Monte Cristo "Sandwich" Turnovers

Half a pack of Puffed Pastry (I use Pepperidge Farms)
Slices of Ham and Turkey
Honey Mustard
Slices of Borden Hickory Smoked Swiss
egg (not completely necessary)

Thaw out the puff pastry, roll out and cut in 4 squares. Spread Honey Mustard, then layer meat and cheese. Brush edges with whipped egg. Fold over and crimp edges with fork. Brush egg on top. Bake at 400 for about 15 min. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with Raspberry or Strawberry preserves.

I have been using Swagbucks for a while now, and I have to say, that its so easy to earn gift cards for Amazon. All you do is use their Search Toolbar for searching the internet (something we all do a lot) and you earn swagbucks on random searches. Save them up and redeem for stuff in their store. A $5 Amazon card is only 450 swagbucks, and it doesn't take long to get that many. Also, the easiest way to rack up the bucks is to get referrals. Everytime they win, you win! There's also surveys you can do to earn point, special offers, and shopping some websites.

Once you redeem for a gift card, they will send you the code thru your messages on your account. Go to Amazon.com, enter the code under your gift cards and it will store them for you. They never expire! I just got my daughter's Laptop Lunchbox from there and paid very little for it! (see previous post about that product)

Baby Walker from Cosco! Good Buy!

My mom got my little boy a walker and it's so cute, not to mention, it was really inexpensive as far as baby gear goes. It is made by Cosco ---Play Around Walker in Fruity Jungle. At Walmart, the price is only $39.96. It was really easy to put together and has 3 height adjustments. My little guy is still a little short, but he can reach with his little chubby toes. I think it will come in really handy and he will be able to enjoy it for a while. And because its so cute, it will super easy to sell at our consignment sale!

Land's End Backpacks - UPDATED

It was our first year to buy school supplies and uniforms, and everything else that goes along with it. A friend told me about the backpacks at Land's End. They are guaranteed----meaning: if for any reason at any time, you aren't satisfied....return it for a full refund. Seriously. Read this to learn all about that guarantee. I was impressed.

Now I haven't ever sent a backpack to school everyday with a Kindergartner, but I'm betting it needs to be sturdy. I know in high school, my backpack weighed a ton! So, we decided on the Featherlight 100 Backpack for my daughter. She really doesn't carry a whole lot to school everyday, but I wanted something big enough for when she needs to, but not too big. I love that they assign an age group to their backpacks. It made it so much easier to narrow down my choices. We even had her name monogrammed for an extra 5 bucks. Got in the backpack a week after ordering, and I couldn't be more pleased. It is so well made and the straps are nicely padded so its comfortable for her to carry. The room is more than enough. Needless to say, unless it rips or tears, we won't be using their guarantee.

October --- So, I did have to use their guarantee after all. I have to say it was awesome! The style we chose kept getting the zipper hung on the fabric flap covering the zipper. After using it now a few months, we decided we had to hunt for another style that didn't do this. Turns out, they carry one just like that, so we did a swap! It was easy - peasy to switch! Great customer service!!

Get This Lunchbox

After reading reviews and looking at some awesome pictures on Flickr (click to see cuteness), I broke down and bought the Laptop Lunchbox system for my daughter, who just started Kindergarten. LOVE IT! It makes it so easy to pack her lunch and it is so cute! I got the Purple/Pink Combo and also order the extra little containers, so its really easy to switch them out and find the size we need for something. I love that each dish has a lid and there are tiny ones for ketchup and other dips. The only complaint that I have on this is that it is kinda hard for her to open the main box. It would be nice if they made it like the lock n lock containers, so that it was sealed better and easier to open. I'm also a little worried if it is going to last all year because the hinge part of the box doesn't look real sturdy. Overall, I'd buy it again just because my daughter loves it so much and it really does make it easy to pack her lunch. I don't have to worry about her sandwich getting smooshed. I ordered mine from amazon.com. Paid around $35 for everything. It comes with a booklet with ideas and information and silverware. Its also environment friendly, which is always a plus.

Dr. Brown's vs. Born Free - Which is Better?

When my daughter was born 5 years ago this coming Saturday, I had bought Avent bottles. I found out quickly that I didn't like them. They leaked everywhere and more than once I wanted to throw them in the trash. Well, she started having awful bouts with gas and after lots of crying on her part and mine, I found out about Dr. Brown's. They were lifesavers! Her gas problems went away, and all was good.
So, last year, when I started shopping for bottles for my son, I found some new bottles that had easier to clean parts that were supposed to be just as good as Dr. Brown's. So, I bought Born Free bottles. They were more expensive, but I really hated having to clean those vents from Dr. Brown's. After using them for a few weeks, I decided that they weren't helping my gassy guy. So, I went in search of wide mouth Dr. Brown's once again. Turns out, Born Free and Dr. Brown's wide mouth bottles' parts work together. All I had to do was buy the vents and reservoirs to use with the Born Free bottles I already had. Saved me a good bit of money.
The lesson from this? Stick with what you know. I will always tell soon-to-be parents to just get Dr. Brown's from the beginning and you won't be sorry.

New Baked Lays flavor! Keeper!

I tried a bag of Parmesan & Tuscan Herb Baked Lays with my Subway sandwich today. The italian flavor went so well with my B.M.T. Also, it says on the bag that Baked Lays has 65% less fat than regular chips. I never knew! I prefer baked any day because they aren't greasy.

Baby toys that baby will love - Infantino

I have an almost 6 month old little boy, my precious little angel. He is really getting good at grabbing things and putting them where he wants. (which is on the floor when he's in his high chair waiting for a meal) One of his favorite things since the day he was brought home from the hospital is a mirror made by infantino hanging above his changing dresser. (Infantino Changing Table Mobile) I bought it as soon as I saw it because I had one very similar by the same brand for my daughter and she adored it, too. Hers was a lion, his is an elephant, both equally cute. I'm not sure if its the mirror, the bright colors and patterns, or the dangly feet that they like so much, but this is something you must get to keep your little one happy during diaper changes.

Another great toy that I have had for both my kids is the infantino Jittery pals. Once again, cute soft animals in bright patterns, rattles in their feet, and when you pull them, they shake a little. Perfect car seat toys or high chair toys.

While looking up the technical name for the mirror on infantino's website here, I found so much more I want to get. I really like the look of the shopping cart covers and will need to purchase one in the coming days.

Vitamin Water is way better than swallowing a pill.

Now, I'm not one to really take vitamins. I have a hard enough time remembering my blood pressure pill everyday. So, I need something easy to give me all the nutrients I need. (I know, what's easier than swallowing a pill is what you're thinking.) I sit at a desk a lot for my job. I drink a lot of water, sports drinks, soda, etc. while doing it. I've really like Vitamin Water, which I have drank quite often. My favorite flavor is XXX. Its acai blueberry pomegranate flavored and has 100% Vitamin C. There are some new flavors out that I haven't seen on store shelves yet, but I will try once I do. Connect, which is Black Cherry Lime (yum!) and Spark, which is Grape Blueberry (my two favorite flavors!). I also love the little humorous paragraphs on the bottles. All this being said...I do not like Vitamin Water zero. It leaves a weird aftertaste. But if you are thirsty and could use a little more vitamins, grab a XXX and you won't be thirsty for long. Well, maybe for more!

New Flavors in Mayo by Kraft

I received some samples of the new flavors of mayonnaise from Kraft recently. One is Chipotle and the other was Garlic Herb. I thought they were good, and the garlic herb was the best. The extra flavor on my Bacon and Tomato sandwich was delicious. I don't know that this is a product I would purchase however. I am a fan of plain ole mayo, so unless there was something special I planned to make, I just don't see me buying it.

Just took a trip to Disney in Orlando in July, the hottest and busiest time of the year. Note to self: Never do that again. Anyway, the first night we were there, we ate at Rainforest Cafe. It was the second time I've been there, and I just wasn't really diggin' it. Number 1, I have a scaredy cat 5 year old daughter that didn't care for the pretend thunder and lightning or the moving animals. She knew they were fake because she kept telling herself that over and over. Besides for all that... Number 2, the food really wasn't that great. I mean, I've had better food at Chili's or O'Charleys or the like. And Number 3, which is a big deal breaker for me, it wasn't worth the wad of cash it took to eat there. So....if you are planning this for your Disney trip, just know that I warned ya if you go there and don't like it.

Stacy's - a favorite snack

So for my very first review, I have chosen something I happen to be eating right now. Stacy's Pita Chips. My favorite is Cinnamon and Sugar, and I buy them whenever I'm close to running out. I really like that they are baked, which must mean healthier than fried. It probably isn't so healthy eating a whole bag in one sitting, but they are that good. Stacy's also makes Bagel Chips, and the Everything Bagel flavor is also yummy to the tummy. You will have stinky breath afterwards, but I think anything good always causes bad breath. Ex. Garlic bread, beer, Funyuns, you get the point. Check out their website here to see all they offer. They also have some recipes on there that I haven't tried, but Chocolate dipped pita chips sounds promising. Oh, and sometimes they offer great coupons on their facebook page, too.
